The much awaited official app for Google’s web-based documents service has finally been released to the Android Market. Google Docs for Android allows you to create, edit, upload and share documents online via your Google/Gmail account. In our test-run, we found the interface sufficiently fluid, efficient and user-friendly and thought the app as a whole was adequate. Though, judging from the first few reviews on the app’s Android Market page, it seems a majority of users are disappointed with the overall quality and we don’t blame them. It is Google we’re talking about here. Anything less than ‘fantastic’ ends up disappointing. Most of the disappointed lot have called the app a mere front end for the the mobile website.

True, the app’s editing interface is an exact replica of its mobile web counterpart. However, most would agree that it is most definitely a faster, more efficient alternative to the mobile web interface. More after the break.

As of this writing, the app lets you:

Make quick changes to spreadsheets
View your documents, PDFs, images and more
Upload and convert files to the Google Docs format
Take a photo of printed text and convert it to a Google document
Share docs with your phone’s contacts

Among these features, the built-in OCR ability that allows you to take a photo of printed text and convert it to a Google document is something that really stands out, and can spare many of us a lot of typing while helping us digitize and organize much of our on-print information effectively.

The user interface is very straight-forward and well-designed. While exploring any one of the items displayed on the app‘s homescreen, you can simply swipe across the screen to switch to another.

Features that the app does not support as of yet include changing the ownership of a document and deleting existing documents.

We put the app’s file sharing feature to the test and as claimed in its description, changes made to a document appear in a little over a second to other viewers/editors. Unlike the web interface, the app does not update documents in real-time so you will, of course, have to hit Menu > Refresh to view said changes.

HTC Desire, Desire HD and Z to Get Gingerbread Update

One of HTC representatives in Mobile World Congress confirms that HTC Desire and all its variants will get the Android Gingerbread update very soon. Recently, HTC revealed the successor of HTC Desire, Desire S, in the MWC, usually we have seen that any handset which runs on Android, the handset manufacturer stops providing any kind of software update for its previously released handsets, if its successor has already been announced or launched in the market.

But, now it looks that HTC is going to provide update option for its Desire, Desire HD and Desire Z. This update will bring latest version of the HTC’s Sense UI and some other goodies and the update is expected to be available in September or October of this year.

The XDA developers (member zexbig) succeeded in obtaining the HTC Desire HD Root process. This method brings permanent root access on the HTC Desire HD. Here, the Paul’s Visionary+ tool is used to root / jailbreak HTC Desire HD. But this rooting method does not apply to the Telus Desire HD. Keep that in mind.

NOTE : Make sure your phone doesn’t have the 1.72 OTA update that was released in December last year.

Here are the instructions to root HTC Desire HD :

Download Paul’s Visionary+ tool.
Install Visionary+ tool on Your Desire HD.
Run the tool and enable the ” Set system r/w after root ” option.
Choose the ” Temproot Now! ” option and let it finish.
Now, choose ” Attempt Permroot Now! ” and wait till it finishes the job.

That’s it! You have rooted your HTC Desire HD!

Though not required to flash custom ROM’s on your phone, you may require the engineering version of HBOOT to get S-Off to get some extra functionalities. It is optional and if you need it, head over to next post on Sarolopo!

HTC released the 1.72.405.3 OTA Android update for HTC Desire HD in December 2010 that included enhanced security, making it impossible to gain permanent root access on the device after the update. It also removed the permanent root and S-OFF access users had already obtained prior to the update. While there still isn’t a way to gain permanent root and S-OFF on the updated version, you can however downgrade your phone to an earlier build in order to be able to do so. Read on for the complete guide.

Requirements:

HTC Desire HD with build 1.72 or later.
HTC Sync or ADB drivers already installed.
Stock 1.32 ROM.
The required downgrade files.
A Gold Card if your Desire HD is carrier-branded.

Procedure:

Extract the contents of Downgrade.zip to a location on your computer.
Enable USB Debugging on your HTC Desire HD from Settings > Applications > Development.
Connect your phone to your computer via USB and make sure the connection mode is charge only.
Launch a Command Prompt window and browse to the location of the files extracted in Step 1.

Enter the following commands:

adb push psneuter /data/local/tmp
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell

You should now get the # prompt, indicating temporary root.

Enter these commands:

cd /data/local/tmp
./misc_version -s 1.31.405.6

Set your phone’s connection mode to disk drive for file transfer and copy the stock ROM’s PD98IMG.zip to the root of your SD card (not in any folder).
Reboot your phone into bootloader by first powering it off and then keeping the volume-down button pressed while powering it back on.
The bootloader will automatically detect the ROM and will guide you through the process of installing it. Simply follow the instructions and you should have the old ROM back on your phone.

Now that you have successfully downgraded your phone, you may proceed to root again your device from the begining.

Froyo Untuk Kelas Menengah
Geliat vendor global dalam mengedukasi ponsel berbasis Android pada segmen menengah kian mencuat kepermukaan. Salah satu vendor yang paling rajin merilis ponsel dengan karakter tersebut adalah Samsung. Baru-baru ini pabrikan asal Korea itu merilis Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570, yang diklaim sebagai ponsel cerdas yang cukup ramah dikantong. Lantas, apa saja yang bisa dinikmati optimal pada ponsel berbasis Android Froyo itu? mari kita simak.
Disain
Kali ini Samsung menampilkan desain cukup trendi pada produk yang masih masuk pada varian Galaxy. Galaxy Mini hadir dengan balutan bahan dasar plastik doff bertekstur, terutama terlihat tegas pada bagian belakang ponsel. Sisi dinamis terlihat pada lis hijau disekeliling bodi ponsel dan cukup memberikan kesan fresh.

Pas dalam genggaman, begitulah kesan pertama yang terasa ketika kita memegang ponsel ini. Bobotnya cukup ringan, hanya 105 gram. Sedangkan ukurannya sendiri tergolong sedang, yakni 110.4 x 60.8 x 12.1 mm.

Menyisir akses fisik pada balutan ponsel, kita menemukan switch volume/zoom pada bagian kiri, tepat berseberangan dengan switch power dan slot micro SD (hotswap). Sedangkan pada bagian atas ponsel tampak slot micro USB yang terlindung rapih menemani jack audio 3,5 mm.

Dominasi layar yang tampak luas pada bagian depan, tampil dengan karakter simple. Tombol homescreen tersemat hanya ditemani oleh tombol menu dan back. Setali tiga uang, kesederhanaan juga terlihat pada jajaran belakang ponsel yang hanya menanamkan kamera berkekuatan 3,15 megapiksel dan speaker multimedia.

Pas dalam mengincar kelas, namun hadir juga dalam disain yang tak terlalu rumit terlihat dari ponsel ini. Seolah ingin memudahkan penggunanya dalam menggunakan jajaran ponsel cerdas miliknya, Samsung Galaxy Mini hadir dengan kesan simpel, trendi dan ergonomis.

Android Anti Debu, Anti Air, dan Goresan

Meramaikan pasar Android yang saat ini menikmati posisi puncak sebagai sistem operasi yang paling banyak digunakan, Motorola kembali mengeluarkan produk terbaru yang menggunakan platform besutan Google ini. Menyusul Backflip dan Charm, kali ini Motorola menawarkan Defy, sebuah ponsel berbasis Android Éclair yang katanya tangguh. Bagaimana perfomanya?

Disain

Motorola seringkali tampil dengan disain yang tidak bisa. Tengok saja disain nyeleneh ala Backflip atau penutup layar mirip kap mobil pada Lucky 3G. Namun hal tersebut tidak begitu terlihat pada Defy yang sekilas sama seperti banyak smartphone touch screen lainnya.

Defy mungkin bisa dikatakan Android paling tangguh saat ini. Pasalnya Motorola mengklaim bahwa ponsel besutannya ini anti-debu, anti-air dan tahan goresan. Dan meski tidak tertampil pada disain, paling tidak ketangguhan Defy diwakilkan oleh pilihan bahannya. Defy menggunakan plastik yang dilapisi karet pada bagian belakang dan gorilla glass yang memenuhi sektor depannya.
Di sekelilingnya, pengguna dapat menemukan 7 buah baut yang terekspos langsung khas ponsel outdoor. Selain itu tersedia pula penutup berbahan karet yang melindungi akses audio 3.5mm dan gerbang micro USB yang berfungsi untuk menghubungkan kabel data dan charger.

Tombol power diletakkan pada bagian atas dan pengatur volume disamping kanan ponsel. Sementara 4 buah tombol kapasitif mendampingi layar dibagian depan. Tombol kapastif yang tersedia dari kiri ke kanan adalah tombol menu, home, back dan search.

4 Kesalahan Blog Perusahaan

Jakarta - Sejumlah perusahaan saat ini mulai melirik blog untuk menuangkan berbagai informasi serta untuk lebih mendekatkan diri dengan para stakeholder-nya. Namun awas, ada 4 kesalahan yang biasa dilakukan blog perusahaan.

1. Memulai Tanpa Strategi
Jangan memulai blog perusahaan Anda tanpa tujuan yang jelas. Sebab, tujuan ini selanjutnya akan berpengaruh terhadap isi blog tersebut. Jangan pula menganggap remeh blog ini hanya karena lantaran para penggunjungnya cuma sedikit. Sebab bisa jadi, dari segelintir orang itu justru yang akan menjadi klien atau partner bisnis perusahaan Anda.

"Kesalahan terbesar dari kebanyakan small business adalah ketika mereka menganggap kegiatan blogging itu sebagai suatu tugas yang mudah," tukas Marjorie R. Asturias, President dari perusahaan web marketing Blue Volcano Media, dikutip detikINET dari Mashable, Rabu (23/3/2011).

Ketika memikirkan strategi blog perusahaan Anda sebaiknya mempertimbangkan, apa tujuan dari blog ini? Apakah blog ini dapat menunjang bisnis perusahaan? Apa perlu mengalokasi sumber daya manusia yang khusus untuk mengelola blog ini? dan lainnya.

2. Berpikir Semua Hanya Tentang Perusahaan Anda
Inilah faktanya, perusahaan pasti ingin menunjukkan betapa hebatnya mereka di blog perusahaan yang mereka miliki. Sehingga dari hal itu, diharapkan akan menjadi sarana promosi bagi mereka kepada stakeholder-nya.

Namun sayang, blog bukanlah press section. Blog memang bisa digunakan untuk berbagi informasi namun berbeda tempatnya untuk sharing berita kepada media. Kemudian, cobalah untuk lebih peka terhadap kebutuhan audiens Anda. Jangan membuat blog perusahaan yang isinya cuma jualan, jualan, dan jualan.

Berikan informasi yang membantu audiens blog perusahaan Anda. Misalnya, memberikan tips & trik, informasi dari lembaga riset, data statistik, dan informasi berguna lainnya. Sesekali, tak ada salahnya juga mengumbar kelebihan produk yang dikeluarkan perusahaan Anda.

3. Gagal Membangun Link

Memiliki banyak link atau jaringan merupakan keunggulan yang bisa didapat lewat sebuah blog. Jadi, sangat disayangkan ketika sebuah blog perusahaan tak memiliki link sama sekali.

Link di sini juga bisa berarti dengan meng-link informasi yang Anda sampaikan di blog dengan sebuah sumber yang Anda kutip. Membuat link seperti ini bukan hanya masalah etika, namun juga demi menciptakan hubungan baik dengan sumber informasi lainnya.

"Ketika Anda menulis tentang saya, maka saya ingin membayarnya kembali. Jangan berpikir bahwa dengan 'mempromosikan' pihak lain jadi akan mendorong audiens Anda pergi. Ada banyak audiens yang berkeliaran di luar sana. Ketika Anda telah mengidentifikasi sesuatu yang luar biasa kepada audiens Anda, maka posting lah!," ujar Douglas Karr, penulis buku Corporate Blogging for Dummies.

4. Abaikan Media Sosial
Ketika Anda memposting tulisan baru, cobalah dilempar ke Twitter dan Facebook untuk didiskusikan lebih lanjut. Namun pastikan profil di akun media sosial Anda itu terhubung dengan blog perusahaan.

Nah, ketika sudah mendapat feedback dari pihak lain tentang tulisan tersebut, segera merespons. Jangan biarkan mereka menunggu dan buat mereka merasa dihargai dengan respon cepat Anda.

"Ingat, keuntungan terbesar dari media sosial adalah membangun hubungan. Jadi Anda harus berusaha untuk mengikatkan diri dengan pembaca dan merespons mereka sesegera mungkin. Buat mereka merasa berharga terhadap komunitas online Anda," imbuh Susan Gunelius, CEO perusahaan marketing communication KeySplash Creative.

Jakarta - Tablet BlackBery PlayBook dibedah komponen-komponen di dalamnya. Gadget besutan Research in Motion (RIM) ini dipreteli oleh situs perbaikan barang elektronik, iFixit.

Dalam soal kemudahan perbaikan barang jika rusak, PlayBook mendapat skor cukup tinggi, yakni 7/10. Ini lebih tinggi dari iPad 2 yang mendapat skor 4/10. Komponen PlayBook rupanya lebih mudah diakses ketimbang iPad 2.

Akan tetapi terdapat nilai minus di sisi baterai, yang hanya dapat diganti dengan mengambil motherboard terlebih dulu. Ini sama dengan di iPad yang baterainya juga sukar diganti.

Menurut iFixit, baterai PlayBook yang konon awet sampai 20 jam lebih kecil ukurannya ketimbang iPad 2. Kemudian sedikitnya delapan chip di PlayBook dibuat oleh Texas Instruments. Komponen kamera cukup impresif, dengan resolusi 3MP di depan serta 8MP di belakang.

Dikutip detikINET dari TechRadar, Kamis (21/4/2011), beberapa komponen penting lainnya adalah prosesor dual core 1GHz TI OMAP4430. Kemudian SanDisk 1GB NAND Flash, Elpida B8064B2PB-8D-F 1GB DRAM dan Invensense MPU-3050 3-axis gyroscope.

Sedangkan dalam kemasan PlayBook, konsumen akan menemukan charger, kabel data, kain pembersih, buku panduan dan pembungkus gadget.

Vampirella is a fictional character, a comic book vampire heroine created by Forrest J Ackerman for Warren Publishing's namesake black-and-white horror-comics magazine, and developed by Archie Goodwin with artists Frank Frazetta and Tom Sutton.
Vampirella first appeared as a horror-story hostess in Vampirella #1 (Sept. 1969), continuing in that capacity through issue #8 (Nov. 1970) when she was "revamped" as a leading character.

Vampirella initially appeared in Warren Publishing's Vampirella #1 (Sept. 1969) and lasted until issue #112 (1983). The title was a sister magazine of Warren's horror-comics magazines Creepy and Eerie. Like those magazines' respective mascots, Uncle Creepy and Cousin Eerie, Vampirella hosted anthological horror stories. Unlike the other two hosts, Vampirella would also star in her own story, which would headline each issue. Vampirella was initially edited by Bill Parente. It would later be edited by Archie Goodwin (issues #7-12, 34-5), Billy Graham (#13-16), Bill DuBay (#21-50, 87-95, 101-102) and Louise Jones (#51-86).

The first artists for Vampirella were Frank Frazetta (the premiere cover) and Tom Sutton (interior art). Jose Gonzalez became the character's primary artist starting with issue #12. Lenovo Pajang 5 ThinkPad Anyar

Memasuki kuartal kedua tahun 2011 ini, Lenovo—vendor komputer asal China—menggelontor lima debutan anyarnya.
Dalam kesempatan Lenovo First Look yang bertempat di kantor Lenovo, Jakarta pada hari Rabu (13/4/2011), Lenovo memperkenalkan sekaligus lima ThinkPad terbarunya.
Dari kelima produk gres tersebut, dikatakan Azis Wonosari (Business Development & Technical Manager) sudah menggunakan prosesor core i3 sampai core i7. Masing-masing pun memiliki segmennya sendiri-sendiri. Seperti apa? Berikut ini laporan kami.

X220t/X220 Tablet dan X220

Sesuai namanya, seri X220t ini memiliki kemampuan layar putar (tablet). Sementara seri X220 memiliki desain seperti notebook pada umumnya. Keduanya sama-sama dirancang menggunakan layar 12”.

“Untuk touchpad, kita sudah gunakan clickpad,” ujar Azis. Teknologi lainnya tampak dari sisi keyboard yang menggunakan sistem Drainase untuk menahan air yang masuk ke dalam keyboard.

Dalam kesempatan terbatas tersebut, Azis menambahkan bahwa penerus seri X200 ini juga sudah menggunakan baterai 9 cell yang akan memberi performa lebih pada daya tahannya.

Seperti kebiasaan Lenovo sebelumnya, bahwa pada seri yang disertakan huruf ‘s’ di belakangnya berarti memiliki keunggulan pada desain yang ramping (slim). Demikian juga dengan seri T420s ini. Tidak seperti notebook 14” pada umumnya, seri T420s ini diklaim memiliki bobot di bawah 2 Kg, tepatnya 1,75 Kg.

Pada bagian keyboard-nya, pengguna akan menemukan stiker bertuliskan Rapid Drive yang menandakan bahwa notebook ini memang membenamkan perangkat Rapid Drive. “Sebenarnya Rapid Drive ini merupakan solusi bagi pengguna yang mengidamkan SSD (Solid State Drive) namun terbatas pada budget, untuk kapasitas yang diusung bisa mencapai 80 GB,” terang Azis. Ia juga menjelaskan bahwa Rapid Drive ini nantinya akan otomatis menjadi drive D.

Dari nama serinya sudah tampak kalau seri L ini membidik pengguna yang mencari notebook Low cost. Nah, di seri L420 ini pun demikian. Tidak seperti seri T420s, meskipun sama-sama dirancang dengan layar 14”, seri L420 ini masih mengusung berat 2 Kg.

Notebook yang mengusung layar berukuran 15” ini dikatakan Azis merupakan yang termahal dari empat notebook di atas. Pasalnya, notebook yang menyasar warrior ini memang menampilkan performa CPU paling bagus. Demikian juga dengan graphic yang diusung, sehingga cocok untuk para desainer, pekerja multimedia, maupun analis. Selain itu, notebook yang berbobot 2,4 Kg ini juga sudah menggunakan video RAM sebesar 2 GB.

Meskipun Lenovo sudah memperlihatkan kepada beberapa wartawan penampilan ThinkPad-ThinkPad anyarnya ini, namun untuk masalah harga Azis belum mau berkomentar. “Tunggu saja saat peluncuran resmi nanti tanggal 18,” pungkasnya.

Walau penjualan notebook sedang melesat pesat, kebutuhan terhadap desktop PC masih tetap ada. Segmen pasarnya terutama pengguna rumahan dan kantoran (korporat).
Para pengguna semacam itu umumnya lebih mengutamakan performa dibanding portabilitas ala komputer jinjing. Namun, bukan berarti mereka mengesampingkan form factor. Ukuran desktop yang kompak juga diperlukan supaya hemat tempat.
Lenovo dengan cerdas membaca peluang tersebut dengan meluncurkan desktop seri terbaru, ThinkCentre M70e. Produk ini sukses meramu feature canggih dan wujud ringkas.

“ThinkCentre M70e memberi keseimbangan dalam mencapai tujuan: kinerja praktis, desain bagus, dan harga terjangkau," ujar Sandy Lumy (Country Manager, Key Account Business, Lenovo Indonesia) dalam rilis persnya.

Penawaran Lenovo kali ini memang fleksibel. Pelanggan dapat memilih spesifikasi yang sesuai dengan keperluan dan anggaran yang dimiliki.

Tersedia beberapa paket desktop untuk ThinkCentre M70e, seperti opsi prosesor Intel Core2Quad/Core2Duo/Pentium/Celeron, kartu grafis NVIDIA GeForce FX380 Quadro atau Intel GMA X4500 terintegrasi, memori DDR3 hingga 4GB, serta kapasitas hard drive sampai 1TB. Sebagai pelengkap, terdapat koneksi Ethernet Gigabit, DVD burner, port USB, port serial, dan slot kartu memori 8-in-1.

Handset yang disebut-sebut sebagai BlackBerry Storm 3 mulai menggoda penggila gadget dunia. Dalam sebuah video, gadget yang memiliki nickname Monaco itu mencoba unjuk gigi.

Penampakan Storm 3 sendiri sejatinya sudah diketahui sejak beberapa waktu lalu. Namun kali ini, kehadiran handset tersebut terasa lebih nyata lantaran hadir dalam format video. Sebab sebelumnya masih sebatas foto dan ilustrasi.

Lantaran mengusung nama keluarga 'badai', BlackBerry Storm 3 tentu saja didesain dengan navigasi full touch screen. Tak seperti Storm versi pertama yang mengandalkan teknologi surepress, Storm 3 dalam video tersebut terlihat sudah beralih ke teknologi layar sentuh kapasitif.

Alhasil, ketika kemampuan layar sentuhnya dipertontonkan, jalannya sapuan begitu mulus mengikuti arah jemari ini berjalan.

Research In Motion (RIM) melengkapi Storm 3 dengan trackpad dan empat tombol dasar di bagian bawah mukanya, yakni yang berfungsi untuk mengangkat dan menutup telepon, menu, serta tombol kembali.

Dikutip dari detikINET, Selasa (22/2/2011), Storm 3 dilengkapi dengan layar 3,7 inch, mengusung BlackBerry OS 6 serta diperkuat dengan prosesor 1,2 GHz. Adapun kamera yang dibenamkannya masih sebatas 5 megapixel, namun diklaim bisa merekam video dengan kemampuan 720p.

Ingin segera menjajal? Sayangnya, Anda masih harus bersabar. Sebab, menurut kabar yang beredar, RIM baru akan merilis handset ini pada September 2011 mendatang.

Sony Ericsson belum lama ini mengumumkan jajaran terbaru smartphone hasil kreasinya, XPERIA Neo dan XPERIA Pro. Manariknya, smartphone Sony Ericsson lainnya, yakni XPERIA Play yang juga cukup ‘kenyang’ dikabarkan dalam bentuk rumor, kini semua spesifikasinya telah dapat diketahui.

Dari beberapa sumber yang dikutip beritaTEKNO dikabarkan bahwa Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play akan hadir dengan layar berukuran 4 inchi berbasis FWVGA dengan resolusi 480 x 854 pixels. Sementara untuk sistem operasinya smartphone bergenre gaming ini akan menjalankan Android Gingerbread (dengan user interface yang telah disesuaikan untuk gaming).

Dan seperti yang diperkirakan sebelumnya, XPERIA Play pun dibekali dengan alat control game slider dan juga sebuah area sentuh yang sensitif. Guna menyajikan performa apik bagi penggunanya kelak, XPERIA Play dipersenjatai dengan prosesor 1GHz Snapdragon dan dikombinasikan dengan GPU Adreno terbaru, yang diklaim mampu memberikan 60fps gameplay dalam game 3D. Tak cukup sampai di situ, smartphone berdimensi 119x62x16mm dengan 175 gram ini juga akan hadir dengan kamera 5 MP plus kartu microSD 8 GB.

Sekadar informasi Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play ternyata merupakan perangkat bersertifikat Playstation pertama yang memiliki hak akses ke konten yang diterbitkan oleh Sony Computer Entertainment, Electronic Arts, Gamloft, Namco, dan masih banyak lagi.

Menurut kabar yang dikutip dari PULSAonline, XPERIA Play akan tersedia untuk pertama kalinya pada bulan Maret. Sayangnya, berapa perkiraan banderol dari XPERIA Play sepertinya masih menjadi misteri.

Berlanjut ke smartphone berikutnya, yakni XPERIA Neo. Smartphone yang mirip dengan XPERIA Arc ini sedianya akan hadir dengan layar berukuran 3.7 inchi FWVGA, yang dikenal sebagai Reality Display dengan mesin Bravia Mobile. Selain itu, layarnya juga diselimuti dengan permukaan anti gores.

Untuk urusan mengabadikan gambar dan merekam video dengan resolusi HD, XPERIA Neo dipersenjatai oleh kamera 8MP Exmor R. XPERIA Neo juga menyediakan port HDMI yang dapat digunakan untuk mentransfer gambar pada layar HDTV berlayar besar. Bahkan, kegiatan yang sama dapat dilakukan tanpa kabel dengan menggunakan DLNA.

Sebagai persenjataan utamanya, selain mengadopsi sistem operasi Android 2.3 a.k.a Gingerbread, XPERIA Neo juga dibekali dengan prosesor Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon 1GHz. Dalam paket penjualannya smartphone berdimensi 116x57x13mm dan bobot 126 grams akan memberikan sebuah kartu micorSD berkapasitas 8 GB. XPERIA Neo baru akan tersedia pada akhir kuarter kedua mendatang. Sayangnya, berapa banderol dari smartphone apik ini belum diketahui.
Terakhir akan kita bahas Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pro, smartphone ini bisa dibilang sebagai XPERIA Neo yang mirip dengan X10 Mini pro. Smartphone Android yang hadir dengan suguhan keyboard QWERTY slider dengan layar 3.7 inchi FWVGA Reality Display. Sebagai persenjataan utama, smartphone ini akan dibekali prosesor 1GHz Snapdragon.

Mirip dengan saudaranya, Neo, XPERIA Pro juga akan dibekali sensor Exmor R pada kamera utamanya yang berkemungkinan akan memiliki resolusi 8 MP. Tak hanya itu, XPERIA Pro menyediakan port HDMI dan DLNA, serta kartu microSD bagi penggunanya kelak.
Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pro baru akan tersedia kuarter satu tahun 2011. Hanya cukup disayangkan, berapa banderol dari smartphone ini belum juga terungkap. Kita tunggu saja perkembangannya.

HTC Desire HD New Sense UI (Photos)

Last week HTC announced their latest Android smartphone, the HTC Desire HD, along with the new HTC Desire Z, they also announced that their HTC SenseUI would be updated to a new version.

One of the guys from the XDA Developers forum has managed to get their hands on a Beta ROM for the HTC Desire HD, and now we have some screenshots of the new HTC Sense UI.

The new HTC Desire HD features a 4.3 inch WVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, there is also 1.5GB of internal storage and 768MB of RAM, and it comes with Android 2.2 Froyo.

The Desire HD features an 8 megapixel camera with built in autofocus and a dual LED flash, other features on the camera include automatic face detection, a range of effects which include depth of filed, vignette and more, there is also geotagging and the ability to record HD video in 720p.

The HTC Desire HD features 3G connectivity with download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5.76 Mbps, there is also GPRS, EDGE and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n.

Storage is in the form of a microSD card slot on top of the 1.5GB of built in storage, and you can put up to a 32GB microSD card in the Desire HD, there is also a 3.5mm audio jack.

There are a range of features on the HTC Desire HD which include a G-Sensor, a digital compass, a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor.

The Desire HD comes with HTC’s new Sense UI and has a range of widgets which include Bookmarks, Calculator, Calendar, Clock, FM Radio, Friend Stream, HTC Likes, Mail, Messages, Music, My shelf, Navigate, News, People, Search Anywhere, Settings, Stocks, Twitter™, Weather, and more.

The Desire HD features a 1230 mAh battery that will geiv you up to 490 hours of standby time, and up to 550 minutes of talk time, it also features WiFi and USB tethering, and Bluetooth 2,1 with EDR.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Review

Samsung announced their latest budget Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Ace back in January, and we have just been testing the Galaxy Ace for the last week.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace comes with Android 2.2 Froyo, and it has just recently gone on sale in the UK, it comes with a range of features you would expect too see in a more expensive smartphone.

Specifications
As I mentioned previously, the Samsung Galaxy Ace comes with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box, hardware wise you get 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.

Processing is provided by an 800MHz processor, and there is also a five megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom and an LED flash, plus a range of shooting modes and photo effects.

You also get a built in FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.1, integrated 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, plus a microSD card slot, the model we tested came with a 2GB microSD card but it can take up to 32GB microSD cards.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace features 1350mAh battery, and the manufacturers specifications say that you will get up to 660 minutes of talk time on 2G, 390 minutes on 3G, plus up to 640 hours of standby time on 2G and 420 hours on 3G.
Design, Display and UI

The Samsung Galaxy Ace is designed to be a budget Android device, although it does feel very well made, maybe not as high as the Samsung Galaxy S, but it certainly feels better quality than the Samsung Galaxy Europa we tested recently.

The display is sharp and crisp and the design is excellent and it certainly feels very well made, and could quite easily be mistaken for a more expensive smartphone.

It comes with a pair of interchangeable covers, one black and one white, the black one features a rubberized texture which makes the phone easy to hold, whilst the white cover is smooth, and feels a bit more like plastic than the black one.
Camera

The camera on the Samsung Galaxy Ace is a five megapixel version, it also features two times digital zoom, and it is capable or recording video in a 320 x 240 resolution, no HD here unfortunately, and this is one of the cameras week points, the video recording isn’t the best, but I suppose this can be forgiven for the price.

The camera on the Galaxy Ace is pretty good , it does a good job at capturing pretty decent photos and it has a range of features built in which include autofocus, a range of shooting modes which include continuous and panorama plus a range of photo effects.
Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Ace is designed to be a budget Android smartphone, and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised with it, as it has a range of features that you would expect in a more expensive Android device.

It definitely feels a lot better quality that some of the other budget Android devices we have tested, and feels very well built, the display is sharp and crisp and the touchscreen is responsive.

The camera is decent, it will do a good jobs on photos, video is another matter and if you are the sort of person who uses your smartphone for recording a lot of videos you may want to consider something else.

Overall we really liked the Samsung Galaxy Ace, for the money it is an excellent budget smartphone, very well made and very well designed, if you are in the market for a budget Android device, I would definitely recommend you add the Samsung Galaxy Ace to your list of devices to check out.
